Explorer.exe Crashes when opening a folder containing mkv files. After I browsed the internet, some people informs that "haali splitter" caused the issue. It looks like some non Microsoft program is causing the issue. We recommend you to check if any non Microsoft program is causing this on your computer. Actualy it's not broken or windows's damages, it's just conflicted.
The fix with Haali media splitter worked. For me, the above problem appeared after I installed DivX players with codec plus. Previously I was using Matroska Haali Media splitter to view .mkv vids on my pc. I guess there were conflicts between DivX and HMS. I chose to totally remove the HMS and the windows explorer crashing problem was solved. And yes I can still view .mkv file thanks to the codecs from DivX.
But some case, it's conflict from DivX to another codecs, so you must do a little research if the problems still exist.
But here's some other solutions :
Solution 1
• In windows 7 ...
• Open windows explorer,
• Select Organize,
• Go to Folder and Search Option,
• Select View tab,
• Under Files and Folders select the check box Always show icons, never thumbnails,
• Click Ok.
Solution 2
I occasionally get this problem and have found such files are easily rescued. Because Explorer crashes I've no real idea what's causing the issue, but it has never been due to a bad application and I'm sure it's a video encoding problem. (Although, I don't care very much as long as the file is fixed).
I solve it by opening any video conversion program [Format Factory or Super would be good for this]. Then open Windows Explorer and navigate to the bad file but stopping one step before Explorer usually crashes. With the file in view quickly drag the bad file into the video converter. Windows Explorer will crash with the usual error warning but ignore that...the video file will still be ok to convert. Convert it as normal saving it to a new directory and afterwards delete the bad file or directory. The new converted file works perfectly and won't crash the system - perhaps more importantly won't crash anyone else's either. If you have any trouble deleting the bad directory then use Unlocker. That will remove anything.
Unlocker : Software for delete the file in your computer [Windows]. Because in some case, some files cannot deleted, it's said program still running or something else. Than, Unlocker is the most perfect solutions.
