Q : Each subdomains is separate wordpress installs.
A : Then you're not using MultiSite. Multisite lets you use ONE install for all your subdomains.

Basic FAQ :
On the subdomain in question, the one on which you want to use the Child Theme, you have:
1) WordPress installed and working properly?
2) The Parent Theme installed?
3) The Child Theme installed?

It is easy to do. Just set up your subdomain such as SUBDOMAINNAME.oursite.com Then go your control panel in your hosting account and set up a new blog at SUBDOMAINNAME.oursite.com since it is a totally different blog it can have a different theme.

Membuat Wordpress Multisite Network
1. Sebelum memulai aktifasi fitur multi-site (multi user), tambahkan kode berikut:

ke dalam file wp-config.php anda terlebih dahulu (Tambahkan kode tersebut sebelum baris /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */).

2. Instal WordPress seperti pada instalasi WordPress standar.

Note: anda harus menginstalnya pada root directories atau bisanya pada direktori public_html. Fitur multi-site tidak akan bekerja pada instalasi WordPress yang menggunakan direktori khusus (Baca lebih lengkap tentang instalasi WordPress menggunakan direktori khusus disini: Giving WordPress Its Own Directory).

3. Setelah proses instalasi WordPress selesai, Masuklah ke menu Tools -> Networks -> Install melalui panel dashboard atau Setting -> Network Setup.

4. Sebelum kita menuju ke langkah berikutnya, WordPress akan meminta setingan networks untuk Multi-site blog yang kita buat. Seting dapat dilihat seperti pada gambar dibawah ini :

5. Buat test blog
Create a test blog in the WordPress Network Admin > Sites panel. It should show up as subdomain.yourdomain.com. Test the blog to make sure everything is working correctly at this point.

6. Install the WordPress MU Domain Mapping plugin
Install WordPress MU Domain Mapping plugin. Dan setelah menginstal plugin tersebut, maka ikuti saja petunjuk yang diberikan oleh wordpress.

Langkah - langkahnya :
Setelah disuruh copy sunrise.php, maka lakukan ini :
Copy kan sunrise.php ke " /public_html/wp-content/(sunrise.php) "

Refresh kembali [F5] wordpress anda, kemudian ke :

My site >> Network Admin (super admin) >> Dashboard
Setting >> Domain Mapping.

Domain Mapping - Uncomment Line
Setelah itu anda akan mendapat pesan lagi dari wordpress yang isinya :

Please uncomment the line define( 'SUNRISE', 'on' ); or add it to your /home/xxx/public_html/wp-config.php

All you need to do is change :
this: //define( 'SUNRISE', 'on' );
to this: define( 'SUNRISE', 'on' );

Setelah itu edit kembali wp-config.php dan tambahkan kode di kotak bawah ini, tepat di atas baris /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */ "

Penulisan kode yang SALAH :
define( 'SUNRISE', 'on' )

Di bagian tersebut banyak sekali terjadi masalah. Jadi pelan - pelan saja yang penting berhasil.
Selesai.

Untuk tahap selanjutnya, kalau suatu saat anda ingin memindahkan blog lama anda ke multiple blog yang baru anda buat ini, silahkan lanjut ke langkah di bawah atau langsung ke sumbernya [ Migrating Multiple Blogs into WordPress 3.0 Multisite ].

7. Create blogs for each site you want to import
Create blogs for each of the sites you want to host at separate domains. For example, importedblogdotorg.mydomain.com.

Note: choose the name carefully, because changing it causes admin redirection issues. This is particularly important if you are migrating a site within the same hosting account.

8. Import WXR files for each blog
Go to the backend of each blog, and import the exported WXR file for each blog. Map the authors to the proper users, or create new ones. Be sure to check the box that will pull in photos and other attachments. See the instructions on Tools Import SubPanel.

Note: if you choose to import images from the source site into the target site, make sure they have been uploaded into the right place and are displayed correctly in the respective post or page.

9. Copy theme and plugin files
Before you start, check that your plugins will work in the network installation. If a plugin is not supported, do not install it. Find suitable alternatives for it by searching for the plugin's function with "multisite" or even "mu", as in "social bookmarking plugin wordpress multisite".

Copy the theme and plugin files from your old WP installs to their respective directories in the new wp-content. You can activate themes for the network, or you can go to Superadmin > Sites, then click edit on the site you want, and enable a given theme for just that site.

Note: if you are using a child theme, copy both parent and child themes to the new site.

10. Edit WordPress configuration settings for each site.
Edit the configuration settings, widget, etc. for each site. By the end of this step, each site should look exactly as it did before, only with the URL subdomain.yourdomain.com rather than its correct, final URL.

11. Connect domains to your main site
For each of your domain names, point them to your main site using Apache Virtual Hosts. You can usually do this easily in cPanel.

Sometimes (not always) this is referred to as "parking". If you've been using the domains as add-on domains, then you need to delete the add-on domains first, then create the parked domains.

The domains that you wish to park must be pointed to the nameservers of your hosting provider, or they must have DNS entries pointing them to the same IP addresses.

12. Map the domains
In Superadmin > Sites, find the new site's ID.

Then, go to Superadmin > Domains, and map the new site ID to the publicly-visible domain name.

To redirect example.com to www.example.com, create two mappings, making www.example.com the "Primary" mapping.

NOTE: You only need to do this step if each site you are importing had its own domain name. If they were subfolders or subdomains originally, you can skip this part.

Tambahan :
Jika terjadi error blank page / halaman kosong pada blog wordpress dan anda tidak ingin menghapus plugin penyebab error tersebut maka cara menon-aktifkan plugin yang dianggap sebagai “tersangka” adalah > login ke cpanel hosting anda > cari menu file > cari folder public html > wp content > plugin > jika sudah menemukan folder plugin “tersangka” tersebut lalu rename atau ubah nama folder plugin “tersangka” ,contohnya quick adsense tambahkan kata error menjadi quick adsense error.
Dengan demikian plugin tersebut otomatis akan menjadi tidak aktif.Jika sewaktu-waktu anda membutuhkan plugin tersebut dan ingin mengaktifkannya kembali tinggal di-rename lagi nama foldernya ke nama semula yakni quick adsense.Atau menghapusnya dan meng-install plugin quick adsense yang baru lagi melalui menu plugin directory di dashboard wordpress Anda.
